Listed below are 23 Things (or small exercises) that you can do on the web to explore and expand your knowledge of the Internet and Web 2.0. Staff are encouraged to complete all 23 items on this list by Monday, February 11, 2008 in order to receive a free MP3 player and also qualify for the laptop drawing. Those staff that complete all items by the extended end date of Friday, February 22, 2008 will receive a free MP3 player.

Week 1: Introduction (official start of Monday, November 26, 2007)
- Read this blog & find out about the program.
- Discover a few pointers from lifelong learners and learn how to nurture your own learning process.
- Set up your own blog & add your first post.
- Register your blog with the Digital Services & Technology Planning department and begin your Learning 2.0 journey.
- Explore Flickr and learn about this popular image hosting site.
- Have some Flickr fun and discover some Flickr mashups & 3rd party sites.
- Create a blog post about anything technology related that interests you this week.
- Learn about RSS feeds and setup your own Bloglines newsreader account.
- Locate a few useful library related blogs and/or news feeds.
- Play around with an online image generator.
- Take a look at LibraryThing and catalog some of your favorite books.
- Roll your own search tool with Rollyo.
- Learn about tagging and discover del.icio.us (a social bookmaking site)
- Explore Technorati and learn how tags work with blog posts.
- Read a few perspectives on Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries and blog your thoughts.
- Learn about wikis and discover some innovative ways that libraries are using them.
- Add an entry to the Learning 2.0 SandBox wiki.
- Take a look at some online productivity (word processing, spreadsheet) tools.
- Explore any site from the Web 2.0 awards list, play with it and write a blog post about your findings.
- Discover YouTube and a few sites that allow users to upload and share videos.
- Discover some useful search tools for locating podcasts.
- Teach someone else how to use one of the technologies described above and blog about your experience!
- Summarize your thoughts about this program on your blog.

Week 5: Play Week (You get a week and a half to play and catch up! Beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008)
Week 6: Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati (beginning Monday, January 14, 2008)
Week 7: Wikis (beginning Monday, January 21, 2008)
Week 8: Online Applications & Tools (beginning Monday, January 28, 2008)
Week 9: Podcasts, Video & Downloadable audio (beginning Monday, February 4, 2008)
Don’t forget to turn in your tracking log once you finish. You can print it out and give it to Susan or email it as an attachment, whichever is most convenient.
